Guidance for Responding to COVID-19 Exposure
When a First Baptist Church ministry staff member is notified of the positive COVID-19 test of a church member or attendee of a First Baptist Church event, we will follow these procedures.
Identify + Assess Risk Factors
The pastor who oversees that group or ministry will:
- Determine the person’s last visit to FBC or an FBC-sponsored event.
- Identify those who may have had close contact with the person who tested positive.
- Notify the group members of the possibility of exposure to the virus as well as recommend that they follow the CDC’s guideline for testing and staying home for 14 days
What counts as close contact?
- You were within 6 feet of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 for 15 minutes or more.
- You provided care for someone with COVID-19.
- You had direct physical contact with the person (hugged or kissed them).
- You shared eating or drinking utensils with the person.
- The person sneezed, coughed, or somehow got respiratory droplets on you.
CDC Recommendations for Those Testing Positive with Symptoms
1. STAY HOME!
2. You may be around others 10 days after the first symptoms appeared AND when you are free of fever for 24 hours without using fever-reducing medications.
First Baptist Church ministry staff members may ask for additional guidance and wisdom from a physician.
We strongly encourage all church members and others who attend First Baptist Church events to follow the CDC COVID-19 guidelines to insure the health and safety of others in our community.
